Just after a while, Amazon Studios put a knife to their I Know What You Did Last Summer series reboot, ending all hope for a season 2.
Amazon Studios canceled their teen slasher series, I Know What You Did Last Summer, after only one season. It does Ecclesiastes executive producer, Sarah Goodman, based on the 1973 novel and 1997 film of the same name, the development of the series was first announced by the streamer in 2019. Executive produced by Fast and the Furious‘Neal H. Moritz and Aquaman director James Wan, the series premiered on October 15, 2021.
Receiving less than stellar reviews, the I Know What You Did Last Summer It’s part of Amazon’s attempts to appeal to a young adult audience and take advantage of a recent innovation in slasher horror properties. Looked for holes in its design and bad twists, the series currently has a 40% rating on the aggregator review site, rotten tomatoes. Now, The deadline reports that Amazon Studios has chosen not to continue the second season, after the season 1 finale aired on Nov. 12.
This announcement may come as a bit of a surprise, given not only the lack of enthusiasm among critics for the series, but also the way in which the first season ended. Manifestation Margo is Brianne Tjut as a killer, the finale effectively wraps up the key mystery that surrounds the entire show. While some remain indefinite, such as the Wai Huna cult, there is likely to be little real fodder to continue the story for another season. While this news may disappoint fans I Know What You Did Last Summer, are sure to have many other slasher properties to keep them predictable for years to come.
