The Flash is set to be a multidimensional story, meaning different characters from different timelines in DC Universe seen in the film. One of the characters is Nicolas Cage’s Superman, as the director Andy Muschietti The actor’s surprise cameo on The Flash has been confirmed.
“Nic is very nice. Even though the role was a cameo, he participated in it,” Muschietti said in Esquire in the Middle East. “I dreamed all my life to work with him. I hope to work with him again soon.” Muchietti also noted that Cage is a “comic book fanatic” and a “huge Superman fan.”
25 years ago, Cage is Superman in Tim Burton’s Superman Lives. However, it was canceled by Warner Bros. the project due to production issues and script problems.
What to Expect on The Flash?
“Worlds collide on The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past,” the official synopsis reads. “But when his attempt to save his family accidentally changes the future, Barry is trapped in a reality where General Zod has returned, threatening extinction, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is , unless Barry can lure a very different Batman out of retirement and save an imprisoned Kryptonian… even if that’s not what he’s looking for. In the end, to save the world he lives in and return to the future he knows to him, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”
Ezra Miller Reprising his role as Barry Allen / The Flash, last appearing in the DCEU for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Starring alongside Miller are Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck bring back their versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman, respectively.
The Flash is directed by Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson. Muschietti’s sister, Barbara, will produce alongside Michael Disco. Flash belongs to DCEU but will serve as a continuity reset to form the new DC Universe.
The Flash hits theaters June 16.
