Morello, guitarist of popular rock group Rage Against the Machine, has long won EDM. He has released music with many leading EDM artists over the years, such as Pretty Lights and Knife Party, among others. He is currently teaming up with electro vet The Bloody Beetroots for a new seven-track EP called The Disasters, which is scheduled to fall on Friday, June 18. You can pre-save the record HERE.
The two are now performing the EP’s upcoming lead solo “Radium Girls,” a major collaboration with Pussy Riot, Aimee Interrupter of ska-punk band The Interrupters, White Lung’s Mish Way, and The Last Internationale. According to Morello, who is known as one of the Rolling Stone“100 Greatest Guitar Players of All Time,” the track tells the story of young Illinois factory workers who “fell victim to one of the most heinous crimes in U.S. industrial history.”
“I spent every summer as a kid near Ottawa, Illinois where these women endlessly used deadly radium painted with paint to light up dark watches,” he explains. by Morello in a statement. “They were encouraged to lick paint brushes at some point to increase productivity and revenue and eventually their bones literally fell out of cancer and they were so poisonous that they had to be buried in lead -lined coffins. consequent court case and publicity that led to the historic national labor protection law. Every year I put flowers on the small monument to the silent heroes and this song is dedicated to their memory. ”
