According to The deadlineSony Pictures has officially set the release date for Will Gluck’s next romantic comedy Anyone But You, starring Euphoria breakout Sydney Sweeney and Top Gun: Maverick’s Glen Powell. The R-rated movie is set to hit theaters on December 15.
Its current theatrical release date sees the film go up directly against Warner Bros.’ musical prequel Wonka starring Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet. Anyone But You will also debut in the same month as other high-profile features including the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
What Can Anyone But You Expect?
Anyone But You is ruled by Gluck from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ilana Wolpert. The filmmaker is best known for his directorial work on the romantic comedies Easy A and Friends with Benefits, as well as the Peter Rabbit movies. Joining Sweeney and Powell are Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Darren Barnet and Hadley Robinson.
“Set in Sydney, Australia, the film follows two people who hate each other so much — they can’t stand each other,” reads the synopsis. It shows the two of them going through various hijinks on vacation from falling off boats to getting giant spiders in their pants.
The project is executive produced by Sweeney, Natalie Sellers, Alyssa Altman, and Jacqueline Monetta, with Gluck, Joe Roth, and Jeff Kirschenbaum serving as producers.
