The blogging world has lost a pioneer.
Heather Armstronga writer who started the mom blogging trend by chronicling her parenting journey on her website Dooce in the early days, died May 9, according to a post shared on his Instagram page. He is 47 years old.
“Heather Brooke Hamilton aka Heather B. Armstrong aka dooce aka love of my life,” the May 10 read the post. “July 19, 1975 – May 9, 2023. ‘It takes an unbreakable sea.’ Hold on to your loved ones and love everyone.”
Armstrong died by suicide at his home in Salt Lake City, his girlfriend Pete Ashdown spoke to Associated Press. He noted that Armstrong experienced a relapse after being in recovery for more than 18 months.
Armstrong began blogging under the pseudonym Dooce in 2001, becoming a popular mommy blogger as she provided an unflinching look at her family life in the domain of the same name. She has written extensively about mental health, her recovery from alcohol abuse and insights into motherhood while raising daughters. Years19, and Marlo13, which she shares with her ex-husband Jon Armstrong.
