Bartees Awesome unveiled his new single, “Daily News,” and announced a series of tour dates that will take his acclaimed live show around the world.
Originally a bonus track from the physical release of his acclaimed sophomore album, Mountain to Table, “Daily News” is a good example of Strange’s style. Beginning with an ethereal soundscape of plucking guitars and melodic vocal “oohs,” it builds to a hugely cathartic release. Strange’s voice at its peak – lifted by thundering drums, soloing saxophones, and a wall of well-blended harmonies – unmistakably conveys the 34-year-old’s ability to push his work with deep emotion. Listen below.
Along with the new single, Strange has revealed his upcoming tour dates, which will include his first appearance at SXSWopen slots for boygenius on Re: SET concert seriessupporting dates The National, and headlining shows across the United States and Europe. You can buy tickets HERE and see the full list of dates below.
Strange has been a hot ticket in the indie world since first hitting the scene in 2020. With 2022’s Mountain to Tablehe achieved a higher level of praise, even landing a place RESULTSown list of 50 Top Songs of 2022. Also, he got a place in ours roundup of the most anticipated albums of 2023 (although, already included in the physical release of Farm to Table, it is unclear if this new single will be included in that project). Last month, he released two new singles as part of Vol. 7 in the Sub Pop Singles Club.
