Benedict Cumberbatch was cast to portray Pete Seeger in the future Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknowndirector James Mangold said The deadline in a new interview. The film centers on Dylan’s groundbreaking electric set at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. As a legendary folk musician and Dylan’s longtime influence, both in terms of his music and activism, Seeger plays an important part in Dylan’s true life story. . He was an early supporter of the rising artist, helping her debut album land on Columbia, and inviting her to perform at the Newport Folk Festival.
Last month, it was revealed that Timothée Chalamet play Dylan while Monica Barbaro already tapped in the description of Joan Baez. Also joining the cast is Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, the university student and actress Dylan has a crush on in the early ’60s.
A Complete Unknown will begin production in New York this summer. It was co-produced by James Mangold, who co-wrote the film with Jay Cocks. Bob Dylan himself was one of the film’s executive producers, and so was Mangold SAYS that Chalamet will do his own singing for the movie.
