Brian Eno reveals a new one Sonos Radio called the station The Lighthouse. Available through Sonos Radio’s ad -free HD audio tier, the track broadcasts classic songs from the ambient legend race along with unreleased music and more.
Featuring hundreds of unheard tracks – the earliest from 1990, according to Eno – The Lighthouse will serve as a “living collection” where Eno will continue to release selections from past and new musical projects directly to fans around the world.
“New pieces will come into the mix and some of it will come back again,” Eno explained in a press release. “You can listen to a series of tracks that are made randomly, chosen randomly to have the possibility of surprise, hopefully exciting collisions-things that are very slow next to things that are the fastest in the world. something without tempo, without pulse. ”
In the coming months, Eno will host a series of three programs to be screened The Lighthouse, beginning with Program 1, where he discusses the unreleased material and why he finally decided to share part of his archive with the world. Program 1 available from now on The Lighthouse on Sonos Radio HD and free to all Sonos customers through the Sonos Sound System in-app archive. It also streams down through Mixcloud.
Of course, Eno is a famous music geek with an unclean ear for making, transferring, and clarifying. There can be a wide range of quality from the tracks on these tracks, and he has already highlighted how things slowly move from one song to the next. At the very least, he seems willing to crack some jokes about it at his own expense:
“One of the issues I face in doing this is when to worry about quality differences. Some of these things have been done for a long time and they are still included in the tape. They are ahead of time in digital. Now of course, on tape, there’s always noise.People like noise, I discovered Actually, I add it sometimes to things because it’s kind of calming down. That’s what it is, introducing- also of imperfection. However, I only say this to give myself a good alibi for the fact that some of the tracks we can say are variable sound quality. ”
In November, Eno was released Music Music 1976-2020, his stacked compilation album that includes his very first music video for “Refusal and Fall”. She also contributes to Marianne Faithfull’s new one spoken word album and made of Live for livestream Gaza back in April.
