Love Rising is an upcoming benefit concert based in Nashville in response to the new in Tennessee law prohibiting drag displays on public property or anywhere children are present. It will take place March 20 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The lineup includes Brittany Howard, Sheryl Crow, Maren Morris, Jason Isbell, Hayley Williams, Julien Baker, Amanda Shires, Brother Osborne, Yola, Allison Russell, and others. Proceeds from the concert will go to the Tennessee Equality Project, Incorporation of Tennessee, OUTMemphisand the Tennessee Pride Chamber of the Partnership With Looking Out Foundation. Donations are now being accepted by the Looking Out Foundation. The Tennessee Equality Project encourages state residents to register to vote.
“As a queer, intersectional artist and mother, raising my son in Nashville, it is important for me to support these wonderful Tennessee LGBTQIA+ advocacy organizations, working hard to build bridges, reduce harm and promote of equality for all Tennesseans,” Allison Russell said in a statement. “LGBTQIA+ contributions and creativity are fundamental to every genre of modern song and performance art. I think it speaks volumes that so many in our community feel the same call to support, celebrate and uplift!”
“SB3/HB9 and SB1/HB1 are clearly targeted attacks on Tennesseans who have done nothing wrong,” added Jason Isbell. “These bills add up to an attempt to eliminate a valuable part of our community and force good people to live in fear. We cannot in good conscience just stand by and let that happen.”
