Caitlyn Jenner faced backlash after sharing her views on transgender women competing in school sports.

In a brief conversation with TMZ posted on Saturday, May 1, the 71-year-old Continuing the Kardashians The star offered his first public statement on the issue of polarizing since announcing his plan to run the expected selection option to replace the Governor of Democratic California Gavin Newsom.

“This is a question of fairness,” Caitlyn told TMZ. “That’s why I oppose biological boys competing in girls ‘sports in school. It’s not fair, and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”

The reporter tried to ask a follow-up question about this stance, but Caitlyn cut off the chat and got in her car.

Later in the day, the star and the longtime Republican doubled his vision of tweet a link to TMZ’s story about his comments.

“I didn’t expect to be asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand,” Caitlyn wrote. “It’s an issue of equity and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
