Captain America 4 Set Photos Show Anthony Mackie and Comic Book Location

New Captain America: New World Order set photos from the highly anticipated sequel have been dropped. The photos show Anthony Mackie filming the new movie, as well as a recreation of an area from the world of Marvel Comics.

The latest set photos come as filming on the project begins and show Mackie dressed casually while filming a scene without his new Captain America costume. Another photo shows the interior of a place called Smyth’s Diner. Marvel Comics fans may recognize this as the same spot that appears Adventures of Captain America #2, released in 1991.

In the comic, Col. James Fletcher is General Phillips from the cafeteria after escaping from Das Vernichtungs-Kommandos/The Killing Squad — a group of supervillains that existed in the comics during World War II. While it’s unlikely this exact storyline will play out in the upcoming film, it’s a nice look back at the comics nonetheless.

Captain America: New World Order will be directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writers Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The movie features Mackie reprising his role as Sam Wilson, who has now officially taken up the mantle of the MCU’s new Captain America. Join him on the way back Falcon and the Winter Soldier starring Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly, who once again play the roles of Joaquin Torres and Isaiah Bradley, respectively.

In addition, The Incredible Hulk Actor Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his role as Marvel villain Samuel Sterns/Leader nearly 15 years after the theatrical debut of the Edward Norton-led film. New World Order will also include the introduction of MCU newcomer Shira Haas as Sabra.
