Recently Rolling Stone interview – ahead of upcoming sixth season in his named parody talk show – the comedian revealed the guest who put his entire crew for a loop: The “emotionally troubled” Chet Hankswithout disdaining criticism.
“He was… emotionally disturbed,” André recalls of his time on set with Hanks. “He stole a motorcycle and rode it. He almost fell over a bunch of grips and gaffers on their stairs. It was very dangerous. He tried to make fun of us, but we edited out all his nonsense! He is not good. How did Colin Hanks come off so good and Chet Hanks come off so bad?
Hanks has raised eyebrows and accusations of cultural appropriation ever since said in a Jamaican accent while accompanying her father, Tom Hanks, at the 2020 Golden Globes. (Not to mention that time he said that he used the N-word It’s OK.) The following year, Hanks released his questionable hip-hop single “White Boy Summer,” that landed on him a deal with Soulja Boy’s record label. A reason for all the bizarre, culture vulture behavior? she “no strong male role model” grew up.
“I’m just playing your schtick, dude,” Hanks responded to André in an Instagram story, explaining that he was trying to match the “weird, weird” character of The Eric Andre Show. “Get out, you’re just a pussy… But that’s it. Some people are just straight. Apparently Eric André is one. “
André retaliated with his own story, albeit with humor: “Everything Chet Hanks said about me was a lie, a bold-faced lie. He’s a fucking liar. And I challenged him to take a picture take a DNA test and prove that Tom Hanks is his father Tom Hanks!
We’ll likely see more of Hanks’ antics when Season 6 is on The Eric Andre Show premieres on Adult Swim Sunday, June 4 at midnight ET/PT. According to a press release, it is “the most high-octane, stone-cold, no-holds-barred, thought-provoking, emotionally mature night show in the history of mankind.”
