According to the insider @MyTimeToShineH, Dave Filoni’s Star Wars film will be called Star Wars: Heir to the Empire. The tweet also says that Jon Favreau, who created The Mandalorian, is only producing this season, making Filoni the perfect director for the movie.
The title of Heir to the Empire refers to Timothy Zahn’s 1991 book of the same name. The novel, which serves as the first installment of the “Thrawn Trilogy” along with Dark Force Rising and The Last Command, introduces fan-favorite antagonist Grand Admiral Thrawn to the Star Wars universe. The Thrawn Trilogy became one of the most popular parts of the former Star Wars Expanded Universe – now known as Star Wars Legends.
Several Star Wars projects are on the horizon, including a Disney+ series Ahsoka, The Acolyteand Skeleton Crew. On the gaming side, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was just released, while Star Wars: Hunters, Star Wars: Eclipse, and a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic are on the horizon.
