Earlier this week, Megadeth announced that they were separation methods with their longtime bassist David Ellefson after a released video showed him engaging in a lewd fight online with a young woman. Today, the veteran thrash-metal musician has released his first statement from the shooting.
When the video first aired, the bassist initially the situation is discussed by saying, in part, “While definitely embarrassing, I want to discuss it as openly and honestly as possible. Even if it’s not something I’m proud of, it’s private, adult interactions that are out of context and manipulated to damage my reputation in my career and family. ”
She also shared an obvious testimony from the woman herself, who wrote, “Yes, the video calls have happened, but I’m the one promoting them and I’m never too old, I’ve always been an agreeable “Nothing bad has happened before. It all happened, I’m not a victim and I’m not prepared in the slightest because I’m the one promoting it.”
Now, in a new statement issued by Rolling Stone, Ellefson pointed to the criminal aspect of the leaked video rather than his expulsion from Megadeth:
Just now, a private video illegally posted on the internet and false allegations were made against me. The actions in the video were between two consenting adults and were recorded without my knowledge. I am working with the Scottsdale Police Department as they investigate allegations regarding revenge pornography to be filed against the person who posted this video. Also, my attorneys are preparing a defamation charge to be filed against this man. The person it is will be prosecuted in law. ”
Ellefson continues to wish her “bandmates”, despite the fact that frontman Dave Mustaine has clearly stated that Megadeth is “officially separating” from the bassist:
“I take this time to be with my family. I asked my bandmates to be the best on their upcoming tour. ”
In announcing that Ellefson was released from Megadeth, Mustaine also cited a “tightened relationship,” an aspect of the shooting that Severe consequences checked on a timeline that look back at different times where the frontman and bassist had heads.
The tour Ellefson mentioned in his statement is Megadeth’s upcoming co-headlining North American exit with the Lamb of God, with Slipknot’s stop Knotfest Iowa festival. At this point, no replacement has been chosen for Ellefson.
