“Like many other artists, we expect to play a lot of shows in 2020,” Death Cab said for Cutie in a statement. “To prepare for the coming year, we decided to warm up by playing a close -up, three -night stand at a venue that is close and very dear to our hearts – the Showbox in Seattle. That’s right, 2020 not as we had planned – but enjoyed three magical nights last February, and we were glad to say it was recorded. ”

In 2018, Death Cab for Cutie joined Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Duff McKagan of Guns N ’Roses, and Macklemore of an effort to save Showbox from closing. They wrote an open letter, signed by several artists, including Sleater-Kinney, Run the Jewels, Dave Grohl, Neko Case, the xx, Fleet Foxes, and the War on Drugs. Days after the letter was sent, the Seattle City Council voted to grant temporary 79 -year -old protection.
