Demons take a long time to transform. Tanjiro realizes that there is a fifth demon, and rushes to find it. Genya tells Tanjiro that he can defeat the Upper Rank. The demons transform, and Tanjiro, Genya, and Nezuko stop them. Tanjiro tells Genya to find the fifth demon, guiding him with his sense of smell. Meanwhile, Muichiro is still trapped inside the water prison in Gyokko.
Tanjiro and Nezuko cover Genya as he moves. Eventually, he saw Hantengu in his diminutive form. However, he could not cut off Hantengu’s head. Sekido suddenly appeared behind Genya, ready to attack. Genya remembers her childhood. His father was abusive to their family and eventually died after being stabbed to death. Meanwhile, his mother was always working. One night, Sanemi left the house to look for their mother. Sanemi and Genya promise each other that they will take care of the family.
Suddenly, a demon attacked and killed all their younger siblings. Genya runs to get help but sees Sanemi and realizes that she killed their mother, who turned into a demon.
