The Diplomatan upcoming political drama series starring Keri Russell, will premiere on Netflix on April 20, 2023.
Russell stars in the show as the new US Ambassador to the United Kingdom, instead of Afghanistan, where he was supposed to go. As threats of war continue to erupt around the world, Russell’s Kate Wyler must “diffuse international crises, build strategic alliances in London, and adjust to her new place inside – all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).
The upcoming series will star Russell alongside Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh. Guest stars for the series also include Celia Imrie, Michael McKean, Nana Mensah, T’Nia Miller, and Miguel Sandoval. The Diplomat created by showrunner Debora Cahn, who also serves as an executive producer for the series.

According to Netflix, the series is “a show about transcendence and the torture of long-term relationships. It’s hard to maintain a relationship, whether it’s a marriage or a military alliance.
