Districts Announce New Album Great American Painting, Single Streaming

Nearly a year and a half after releasing their final length, The Districts is back with another new album. Philadelphia indie rockers have just announced their next record to be called Good American Painting and is scheduled to arrive on Feb. 4 via Fat Possum. The band also shared the lead single “I Want to Feel Everything,” and announced a big 2021-2022 tour.

Recorded by the legendary Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, Good American Painting is The Districts ’fifth full-length and following with their 2020 album You Know I’m Not Going Anywhere. The LP consists of nine tracks in total, including the lead single, and is performed by indie rock icon Joe Chiccarelli (Spoon, The Strokes, Broken Social Scene).

As our first look at what to expect, “I Want to Feel It All” is about the same exciting and nostalgic features as you’d expect. The Districts hit on their usual guitar style while adding other textural elements that amplify the emotional lyrics. Accompanying the solo is a cinematic music video co -directed by Frank Apollonio and the band. Filmed at night, captures the magical feeling of wonder and grandeur that happened when you were young, in love, and ended the night with your friends.

“‘ I Want to Feel Everything ’is about feeling everything possible all at once, emotional fireworks, and loving the universe and everything in it,” explains the mag- singer / guitarist Rob Grote in a press release. “But it also saves space for the part of death and darkness that obscures all existence, and forgiveness and pain and acceptance. The video takes place on twilit Pennsylvania hill, where we perform with fireworks in the eternal present intended to be understood in the song. The truly invincible in the video represents the separate dream-like world inhabited by this song, while the unbroken American landscape is a symbol of idealism and natural mystery. inspires our work. ”

Preliminary orders with Good American Painting continues today, including vinyl options. Check out the cover artwork and full tracklist for it after the jump. You’ll hear a sneak preview of some of the songs on their upcoming 2021-2022 tour, which starts in October, and includes runs through the mid-west, south, east coast, west coast, and Europe.
