Dropkick Murphys & Rancid Announces Co-Headlining 2021 US Tour

Dropkick Murphys and mourned Dates have been announced for their co-headlining “Boston to Berkeley II” 2021 trip after the outing was postponed last year due to the pandemic. The two punk act veterans will be featured by The Bronx most of the performances.

After embarking on a joint trip in 2017, there’s Dropkick Murphys and Rancid plans to do so again starting in May 2020. Now, they are finally ready to get the show on the road. The 34-date tour will begin Aug. 10 in Waite Park, Minnesota, and last until the Oct. 16 show in Los Angeles. As previously reported, the same band will play. Riot Fest in Chicago and Aftershock in Sacramento, California.

“We are excited to hit the Dropkick Murphys road again for the second edition of our trip from Boston to Berkeley,” Rancid’s Tim Armstrong said in a press release. “Our good friends The Bronx will join us too. See you in the hole!”

Ken Casey of Dropkick Murphys added, “Can’t wait to get back there and reopen the tour door. It’s a great lineup and we’re going to take the country by storm.”

The two bands will return, with Rancid’s Lanc Frederiksen hearing Dropkick Murphys ’debut EP in 1997 and passing it on with Armstrong, who signed his Hellcat label.

This year marks Rancid’s 30th anniversary, formed in 1991 from Armstrong’s ashes and the late 80s Operation Ivy by bassist Matt Freeman. The California punk act was the last to release the album Trouble in 2017, and was reportedly working on a follow-up, though no details were disclosed.

Meanwhile, Dropkick Murphys released their 10th album, Turn up That Dial, earlier this year, while Massachusetts clothing delivered a new collection of sing-along Celtic punk anthems.

The closing set will vary between Rancid and Dropkick Murphys throughout the tour. Tickets go on sale this Friday (June 18th) at 10 am local time in most markets via RancidRancid.com and DropkickMurphys.com, as well Ticketmaster.
