Viewers and analysts believe that Elon Musk may live to regret the brutally cut the work he did on Twitter when he brought up the social media site—and it turns out they were right.

Talked to David Faber on CNBCMusk said that “not all” of the people who lost their jobs were “excessive.”
“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” he said. “There’s no question that some of the people who were released probably shouldn’t have been released because we didn’t have time to think. [it] outside. We had to make massive cuts to control the run rate.
“This is not to say that everything released from Twitter is terrible or something – we just need, with a little information, to get the head count, the costs and the non-personnel costs up to where we are break.”
Musk added that the platform is not breaking though, but soon.
“We’ve got to do it fast, and unfortunately if you do it fast there’s going to be some babies thrown out with the bath water,” he said.
It’s clear that Musk won’t “belittle” anyone who has left, but said he’s heard from other tech CEOs who feel encouraged by his moves to ax the headcount.
Even though he didn’t name them, people wanted to partner with the social media mogul Created by Mark Zuckerberg 21,000 layoffs at Meta, Google has cut its workforce by nearly 12,000 at the beginning of the year while Amazon done 27,000 over a month.
Some business leaders were open in their praise of the policy.
Keith Rabois, a Silicon Valley VC and Musk’s peer in the so-called PayPal mafia, said at an event in March that Big Tech Competitors “look at Elon and Twitter” to find out how and where to cut their own staff.
Saying it was a “terrible example” of how to handle layoffs and downsizing of bad staff, Rabois added that he couldn’t bet against Tesla mogul.
Back to hiring
With Twitter’s headcount down by around 1,500, Musk said he and Yaccarino will once again look to increase the company’s headcount.
“We really need to hire people,” Musk said. “And if they don’t get mad at us they’ll probably rehire some of the people who were let go.”
Musk may be out of the proverbial pan and into the frier when it comes to hiring, having announced this week that he is now wants to sign every hire and contractor EV manufacturer working with Tesla.
In an internal email, Musk wrote: “I want to get a better understanding of our hiring. The VPs should send me a list of their hiring requests in the department once a week.
Whether or not he’ll adapt Tesla’s hiring policy remains to be seen—though, he has previously shown what Twitter’s hiring looks like.
Responding to a luck story last year about interest in the company’s job skyrocketing if Musk’s purchase went through, the tech titan tweeted: “If Twitter Completed the acquisition, the company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec and server hardware.
