the Evil Dead returns: New Line Cinema now unveiled the official trailer for Evil Dead RisingThe new installment of the beloved horror franchise is set to hit theaters on April 21, 2023.
Creator/original director Sam Raimi won’t direct this movie, either Bruce Campbell reprising his role as Ash Williams; Irish filmmaker Lee Cronin directed and wrote Rise of the Evil Dead, with Raimi and Campbell serving as executive producers.
It’s unclear how the new film will connect to the original trilogy. Evil Dead Rising centers on two estranged sisters “whose reunion is cut short by the rise of demons in the flesh, pushing them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most terrifying version of family imaginable. ” The cast includes Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Mia Challis.
“I’m happy to bring Evil Dead return to the original home of New Line 40 years after the release of the first film,” Raimi said in a statement. “The company’s history as pioneers in horror speaks for itself. I am equally excited to work with Lee Cronin, whose gifts as a storyteller make him the ideal filmmaker to carry on the lasting legacy in the franchise.
Meanwhile, in a teaser shared on Twitter, Campbell promised that Evil Dead Rising “is still the scariest.” See for yourself and watch the official trailer for Evil Dead Rising down.
