Elizabeth Holmes has lost her last bid to remain free on bail as she appeals her fraud conviction.
Tuesday’s decision by the US Court of Appeals in San Francisco means Theranos Inc. founder will soon have to report to prison to begin his 11 1/4-year sentence after a jury convicted him last year of defrauding investors out of blood. -attempt to start.
Holmes won a brief stay that delayed the start of his prison term while an appeals court considered his appeal. The appeals panel upheld the lower court judge who presided over Holmes’ trial and denied his request for bail. He can still pursue his appeal of his conviction, but must do so from prison.
A similar request by former Theranos President Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani was also denied. He reported to prison last month to begin his 13-year sentence.
