In a recent video, the Animal Crossing YouTube channel Major Mori clarified some of the released information datamined from the 1.10.0 update to the game, including the said map expansion. According to the video, the data miners found changes in the parameters “mSouthShoreBaseline.f32”, which were increased from 500 to 1000. The parameter related to the limit or limit the camera can move in a specific direction or area, so increasing the value of “mSouthShoreBaseline.f32” means that the camera will be able to move further south than before. This has led to the rumor that more space could be added south of the main island of the game, which could be a new small island, an expansion of the current island, or a new area for diving and swimming.
Unfortunately, Mayor Mori went on to clarify that the use of the “mSouthShoreBaseline.f32” parameter is not limited to the main island only, as it is also used in other areas of the game, such as Mystery Tours. It is likely that the parameter change detected in datamine was used only for testing rather than preparation for the imminent release, such as an expansion map. In addition, the parameter “mSouthShoreBaseline.f32” for the principal island is always set to the higher specified value, which further indicates that the change is unlikely to be related to an expansion for it.
This does not mean that an expansion of the island will never come Animal Passage: New Horizons sometimes in the future, because it’s definitely something Nintendo may have planned or even worked on. Fans will just wait and see what Nintendo has in store for the upcoming beloved simulation game on the island. Hopefully the revelation will come sooner rather than later.
