Florence Pugh to Lead the East in Eden Series With Zoe Kazan in Writing


According to The deadlineOscar nominee Florence Pugh continues to be booked and busy, as she officially signs another project in the form of a limited series for Netflix. The Great Pain actress Zoe Kazan is involved in writing the TV adaptation of East of Edenbased on the classic novel by John Steinbeck of the same name.

“I love it East of Eden when I first read it, in my teens. Since then, adapting Steinbeck’s novel – its large, wide, three generations in total – has been my dream. More than anything, I want to give full expression to the strange, singular antiheroine of the novel, Cathy Ames, ”Kazan said in a statement. “Florence Pugh is our dream Cathy; I can’t think of a more exciting actor to give life to this character. Writing this limited series over the past two years has been the highest point of my life. I hope that with our partners at Netflix, Anonymous Content, and Endeavor Content, we can do this material justice-and shed new light on it for a 21st century audience.

the East of Eden limited drama is now in the early stages of development. This is a co-production between Anonymous Content and Endeavor Content. This is the executive produced in Kazan, with Pugh also set as a producer.

The novel follows the interconnected stories of two families, the Trasks and the Hamiltons. It was first adapted into a 1955 film, directed by Kazan’s grandfather Elia Kazan and also famous for being James Dean’s first major feature.
