Florence and the MachineFlorence Welch and Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman) was announced as the composer for a new Broadway musical adaptation of The Great Gatsby. The most recent update of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel features Welch’s original music and lyrics, along with music from Bartlett. Rebecca Frecknall is set to direct the adaptation, which Len Blavatnik and Amanda Ghost did for Unigram with Robert Fox.
“This book has driven me crazy in many areas of my life. It covers some of my favorite lines of literature, ”Welch said in a statement. “Music was my first love, and I felt a deep connection to Fitzgerald’s broken romance. It’s an honor to be offered the opportunity to make this book of songs.” .
Florence and the Machine released their final album, High on Hope, in 2018.
