Frasier Sequel Series Adds 2 Cast Members

The future Frasier The sequel to the Paramount+ series has acquired a couple of cast members, with Variety reporting that Jack Cutmore-Scott and Nicholas Lyndhurst both aired in the upcoming series.

While plot details for the upcoming series have been kept largely under wraps, Variety has learned that Cutmore-Scott will play the role of Freddy Crane, Frasier’s son, which the series describes as “a nuanced combination of his father and grandfather. Years ago, Freddy rejected following in his father’s footsteps—dropping out of college to become a firefighter—and he hasn’t looked back until now, when recent troubles leaving him with nowhere to turn in his life. If they can overcome past differences, Freddy and Frasier will finally have a chance to heal old wounds.”

As for Lyndhurst, he will play Alan Cornwall, a man described as “Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor. British, boozy, and larger than life, Alan has an intellectual same as Frasier’s—if only he wanted to use it. Alan’s cunning streak may be just what Frasier can use to shake his routine, while Frasier’s thoughtful guidance may help Alan find some which direction he lost in his own life.

The character of Cornwall has never been seen in Frasier series, but Frasier’s son has. He was briefly played by Luke Tarsitano in the original series but played by Trevor Einhorn for the remainder of its run. With the character that should be a little younger than their original actors, however, it seems it’s time to turn to someone else.

Cutmore-Scott has appeared in a litany of high-profile films, including Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and in the future Oppenheimer, Kingsman: The Secret Serviceas well as some TV roles, including ABC’s fraud. Lyndhurst’s biggest credit came from the hit British sitcom Only Fools and Horsesbut he has also starred in many films, most recently in 2016 A United Kingdom.
