George Santos reporters confirmed that she had, in fact, worn drag before. However, she denied recent reports that she is an actual Brazilian drag queen. In a video, it was captured by TMZ, reporters caught up with George at LaGuardia Airport and asked him about the ongoing rumors. “I’m not a drag queen in Brazil, guys,” insisted George. “I was young and I enjoyed a festival.”
The latest obsession from the media claiming that I am a drag queen or “made” as a drag queen is categorically false.
The media continues to make outrageous claims about my life as I work to deliver results.
I am neither distracted nor worried by it.

Rumors started that the former NY Congressman was a drag queen in Brazil after a photo surfaced of him wearing women’s clothes and makeup. On January 19, Santos took the Twitter to address the rumours. “The latest obsession from the media claiming that I am a drag queen or “made up” as a drag queen is categorically false,” she wrote. “The media keeps making bad claims about my life while I’m working to deliver results. I’m not going to be distracted or bothered by it.”
In his original denial, Santos did not mention the picture showing him in drag. When caught at the airport just a few days ago, however, he admitted to wearing the dress at a festival. However, she remains adamant that she is not officially a “drag queen.” The situation was spoofed in the January 21 episode of Saturday Night Live.
Santos was elected as the US representative for the 3rd congressional district of New York on Nov. 2022. However, in December, before he officially assumed office, the New York Times published a piece claiming that Santos may have fabricated part of his resume, including his work and educational history. In the following days, more allegations emerged about Santos misrepresenting aspects of his past.
On December 26, Santos admitted to New York Post that he “embellished” part of his resume, but insisted he was “not a criminal.” He also vowed to remain in his post, despite citizens urging him to resign amid concerns. “It’s not going to stop me from having legislative success,” he said. “I will be effective. I will be good.”
