“Our world is in urgent need of change,” Global Citizen co-founder and CEO Hugh Evans said in press materials. He continued: “The world’s antiquated financial systems perpetuate conditions that keep vulnerable countries and their citizens trapped in a cycle of extreme poverty. We congratulate Ajay Banga on his appointment as President of World Bank, and there is an urgent and immediate opportunity for him to show the leadership that the world needs.
French President Emmanuel Macron added: “We need a world with more unity. The crises are increasing and the number of those who put their hope in peace and multilateralism will only grow if we, as a global community, show that we are there to help the most vulnerable. Because inequality and poverty are the basis of today’s and tomorrow’s wars. Because there will be no global climate change if we do not fight for of more justice and equity. In the middle of the sustainable development goals, we need a new financial agreement between all countries, so that the world of tomorrow is more united.
“The next generation is inheriting a planet that is being destroyed by climate change,” Kravitz said. “We have the power to change things with our voices and our actions. Join me on June 22, wherever you are, and act today to save tomorrow.”
