The music world mourns the loss of David Crosby. The legendary singer-songwriter, co-founder The Byrds and Crosby Stills Nash and Young, died at the age of 81 on January 19.
“It is with a deep and profound sadness that I learn that my friend David Crosby has passed away,” WRITES longtime bandmate Graham Nash. “I know people tend to focus on how easy our relationship is sometimes, but what has always been important to me and David above all else is the pure joy of the music we create, the sound that we discovered each other, and the deep friendship we shared all these years. David was fearless in life and in music. He left a huge void to the full of personality and talent in this world. He spoke his mind, his heart, and his love through his beautiful music and left an incredible legacy. These are the things that matter most. My heart truly goes out to his wife, Jan, his son, Django, and all the people he touched in this world.”
“I don’t know what to say other than I’m heartbroken to hear about David Crosby,” Brian Wilson WRITES with a photo of the pair together. “David was an incredible talent – a great singer and songwriter. And a wonderful person. I am at a loss for words. Love and Sympathy to David’s family and friends.”
“Grateful for the time we had with David Crosby,” Jason Isbell tweet shortly after the news of his death came out. “We miss him so much.”
Melissa Etheridge too paid tribute to the deceased musician, who was the sperm donor of his son: “I miss you my friend,” he wrote.

So sad to hear about the news that the Byrds and CSN’s David Crosby has passed away. I hosted the very first Musicians Assistance Program/MAP (now MUSICARES) dinner honoring David in 2000. HIS contributions to folk and rock cannot be overstated. pic.twitter.com/q6934kMQp8

My parents took me to the CSNY reunion tour in the late 80s and dressed me up beautifully 🤣. The Memorial Colosseum was full of hippies and ranks smoking weed and I was wearing a dress shirt with freshly ironed slacks. I think David Crosby would find it funny. RIP

“Who are the people, who really rule this land? Why do they run it with such a mindless hand?” David Crosby. Rest in power, my friend. Thank you for being a tireless voice for justice. https://t.co/Mz4Gf0QCsR

RIP David Crosby. Nine days after Jeff Beck. There were so many talented musicians in that generation that I was never ready to see pass regardless of their age.
