Gunna Denies Bond, RICO Has Trial Date Set for 2023

Gunna pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, his attorney Steven H. Sadow told Pitchfork. The rapper, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, was also dismissed. His trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 9, 2023. Sadow wrote in an email to Pitchfork:

The Court was apparently concerned about the threats and intimidation of witnesses. We believe that if the Court hears the evidence, not just the words of the prosecutor, it will be seen that Sergio’s release of the bond will not, directly or indirectly, pose a significant risk to the witnesses. We expect to have an evidence hearing on this when allowed by the Court.

Named Gunna a grand jury indictment alleging that YSL (aka Young Thug’s Young Stoner Life Records) is a criminal street gang. The young Thug was also charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, and there was a hearing on his bond request on June 2, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
