HBO Max Schedule May 15-21: New TV and Movies

A fascinating docuseries following the Los Angeles-based professional women’s soccer team premiered as part of HBO Max schedule for May 15-21.

Beginning at 9:00 pm ET/PT on Tuesday, May 16, HBO and HBO Max subscribers can view Angel City, an HBO original documentary on the origin story of the Angel City Football Club. Two additional installments will follow on Wednesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 18. Created by the Academy-Award winner actress Natalie PortmanKara Nortman, and Julie Uhrman, the team was announced in July 2020 and begins play in 2022. Angel City will take viewers behind the scenes throughout the team’s inaugural season.

Directed by Arlene Nelson, Angel City will feature candid interviews with the co-founders and several members of the team’s players and coaching staff, including Christen Press, Freya Coombe, and others.

“Angel City is a captivating docuseries that goes behind the scenes and on the pitch of the groundbreaking Los Angeles-based professional women’s soccer team, Angel City Football Club (ACFC). Founded in September 2020 of actress Natalie Portman, venture capitalist Kara Nortman and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman, ACFC broke the mold by becoming the largest women’s ownership group in professional sports and includes 14 former U.S. players Women’s National Team as investors.

The project comes from the production of MountainA and Little Monster Films in association with O’Malley Creadon Productions. Portman also executive produced alongside Chai Vasarhelyi, Jimmy Chin, Anna Barnes, Sophie Mas, and Christine O’Malley. Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, and Bentley Weiner executive produced for HBO.
