Does a doctor recommend coffee as a safe daily appetite suppressant?

In short, drinking coffee without eating any food is not completely healthy. If anything, it may do more harm than good in the long run.

“Weight, brain fog and energy are all related to blood sugar,” explains Dr. Bhatia. “If we don’t eat within an hour or so of waking up, then we send blood sugar up and down. Coffee, FYI, raises blood sugar.”

He continued, “This puts the body into fight or flight and, ultimately, causes fat storage and lowers metabolic rates.”

What are the dietary alternatives to using coffee and other sources of caffeine as appetite suppressants?

Simply put, the health expert emphasized the importance of eating within an hour of waking up. And instead of skipping breakfast, he recommends cutting back on breakfast.

“The quality of the food is important,” he shared. “Cleaner whole foods that provide fiber and healthy fats work to control blood sugar. Weight loss is about keeping blood sugar and insulin stable to prevent storage of fat.”
