Our hockey rink needs a higher seat so you can see the top of the boards while watching a game. I searched and searched for the right piece – actually a lifeguard style chair, but in a bench/bleacher format – but nothing worked. Nothing.
So I decided to build something!
Taking inspiration from tried -and -true wooden picnic tables, I was able to do this:
It is very comfortable, sturdy, and durable. Because it’s easy to do, we can do more to seat multiple fans right on the glass.
Other Uses for this High Bank
It’s hard to believe that everyone doesn’t need a hockey game viewing bench (really?) But maybe you don’t. But you may need to:
- Elevated view over the railing-if you have a beautiful view, but your railing is in the way, a bench like this will give you the height to see it.
- Some areas of the game where you usually stand, this bench puts you in a high stance, but with the comfort of sitting.
- In the back row – placed on the wall or behind the table set ups, the high bench gives you height to see the lower tables, chairs, or benches
It’s an easy build – a few angles, but nothing crazy. It becomes strong and comfortable, foot rest is essential to take weight and help climb the bench seat.
