Eternals producer Nate Moore explains how Kumail Najiani’s Kingo can deliver vibes to audiences comparable to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark.
Eternals producer Nate Moore explains how Kumail Najiani’s Kingo compares Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. Downey plays the self -portrayed genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist from the Marvel Studios premiere film Iron Man in 2008. Long before becoming a founding member of the Avengers in the 2012 team-up movie, the brash, charismatic superhero was at the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. on Avengers: Last Game, it is only fitting that Iron Man will save the universe he helped create.
Without Tony and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), the Avengers seem to have broken into Phase 4. MCU is set to introduce a new group of immortal heroes in its 26th film, Chloé Zhao’s Eternals. The film follows its title cosmic race created by the Celestials and sent to Earth thousands of years ago. The Eternals are commanded not to get involved in any human fights unless their evil counterpart, the Deviants, is involved. As such, the Hulk’s snap in Endgame caused a cataclysmic event that unleashed a new horde of Deviants. Eternals starring Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Brian Tyree Henry, and Dong-seok Ma, Don Lee, Lia McHugh, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani.
During the Screen Rantvisit by to Eternals set, producer Nate Moore explained that one of the Eternals might not be obvious to call back one of the first Avengers. Moore compares Nanijiani’s Kingo personality to that of former Tony Stark. Read what he says below:
“There are definitely some Tony Stark vibes. I don’t think Kingo is as suave as Tony. Even on his best day I think he’s a little more crazy but he’s also hysterical.
Nanjiani is probably best known for his roles in Silicon Valley and The Great Pain (2017). In preparation for Eternals, the actor went through a now-viral body transformation, bulking up playing Kingo. As is the case with most big-screen Eternals, this new version of Kingo deviated from Japan in the comics. Nanjiani’s Kingo seems to have started his journey on Earth in Pakistan and eventually became a beloved Bollywood film star. Unlike Iron Man, Kingo uses his cosmic power to shoot beams out of his hands.
Nanjiani’s comedy time / ability is, more often than not, used in a way that has no self on screen. He was joking described his character in Eternals like “a better version of [him]”. It’s not hard to imagine Downey saying the same thing about his character. Suffice it to say that Nanjiani’s full confidence and charisma will be shown in the film as he plays a famous MCU. While there is no other Tony Stark, fans will definitely be happy to see the remaining “genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist” characters.
