Although from an early age, due to her own traumatic experiences, Carey had never considered childbirth, speaking out Magazine in 2014, “I never thought I would have kids-before. I remember as a kid, saying, ‘I’m not going to get married; I’m never going to have kids.'”

But the fall of Cannon, 10 years his junior, changed everything. “Having kids together has been our cause,” she writes in her book. “Our desire to have children has become a force of nature and why we get married so quickly.”
They were married on April 30, 2008 in an intimate ceremony that Carey called “a total spiritual celebration” at her home in the Bahamas. They started out about becoming a family right away and Carey got pregnant later that year, but as she was once again preparing to announce their happy news at a Christmas event, a routine sonogram was found to no more a heartbeat.
