Invite Cast Adds Paul Rudd, Amy Adams, Tessa Thompson to Comedy


According to The deadline, Marvel stars Paul Rudd (It’s 40) and Tessa Thompson (Creed) along with Oscar nominee Amy Adams (Disenchanted) have signed on for the lead roles in the upcoming comedy titled. The Invitation. Rudd and Adams are set to portray couple Joe and Angela who find themselves receiving invitations from their rowdy neighbors.

Who is Included in the Invitation?

The Invitation will be directed by Little Miss Sunshine filmmakers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris from a screenplay written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, based on the 2020’s Spanish movie Sentimental. This marks Dayton and Faris’ latest collaboration with Rudd, who they co-star in Netflix’s Living with Yourself series featuring Ant man star in two roles. It will be produced by David Permut and FilmNation Entertainment.

“It tells the story of Joe (Rudd) and Angela (Adams), who after 15 years of marriage, find that their relationship is in a rut. Desperate to have a conversation that doesn’t focus on their marital woes, Angela invites their rowdy neighbors, Kayla (Thompson) and Shane, over for cocktails,” the synopsis reads. “Joe, resentful of being with this troublesome couple, plans to use the opportunity to confront them; however, he and Angela get more than they bargained for as sparks fly and they discover that Shane and Kayla host weekly orgies and have their own invitations to offer.”

Rudd recently reprized his favorite role as Scott Lang/ Ant-Man in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. He will next be seen in the upcoming third season of the acclaimed Hulu comedy Building Kills Only. As for Thompson, she recently starred as Bianca Taylor in Michael B. Jordan’s feature directorial debut Creed III.

Last year, Adams reprized her lead role as Giselle in Disney+’s Disenchanted movie, after more than 15 years since the first film’s theatrical release. His next projects included the film adaptation of Nightbitch and the political dramedy Average Height, Average Build, which served as a reunion project with Adam McKay.
