Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 DIRECTORS James Gunn took to Twitter to express his gratitude to everyone who supported Marvel Studios’ latest MCU movie during its second week, which exceeded expectations by earning an additional domestic gross of $60.5 million. This is only a 47% decrease from its first weekend’s domestic gross of $114 million, making it one of the best-performing MCU sequels to date.
Gunn also shared how proud he is that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 isn’t just a “first-weekend cash grab,” which shows how well people connect with the story of the titular band of misfits.
Who is the Cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 once again written and directed by James Gunn. MCU vets Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel return to reprise their respective roles as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Rocket, and Groot, while Maria Bakalova joins as Cosmo the Spacedog. The sequel also features the introduction of franchise newcomers Will Poulter and Chukwudi Iwuji, portraying the roles of Adam Warlock and High Evolutionary.
“In the film, our beloved band of misfits look a little different these days,” reads the synopsis. “Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to protect the universe while protecting themselves. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”
The team was last seen traveling in space in a special presentation of Marvel Studios on Disney + Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which was filmed at the same time as the upcoming sequel. In the holiday special, Drax and Mantis try to cheer Peter up by throwing him a celebratory Christmas party featuring his childhood idol Kevin Bacon.
