In several posts and replies on Twitter and Mastodon, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn revealed many details about Marvel, DC, and the comics he reads.
When asked if he has seen and liked HBO Max’s Doom Patrol consecutively, replied Gunn with a quick “Yes.” Similarly, Gunn confirmed that he had read Frank Miller’s seminal Batman story The Dark Knight is back.
The DC Studios Co-CEO then paid tribute to acclaimed comic book writer Tom King. When a fan asked if he enjoyed King’s Supergirl: Girl of Tomorrow, he declared He enjoyed it “So, so, so much,” and felt that Tom King was “the greatest.”
Before the New Year, fans started speculating if the books on the tweet table below were hints about the future of the DC Universe, as they were Grant Morrison omnibuses. Batman run. Gunn the record is straightproving that their placement was not any kind of clue, although he admitted that “Grant’s Batman and Robin (& them Superman) are some of my favorites.”

When asked if fans will know what happened to the Benatar, the ship used by the Guardians of the Galaxy after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Gunn replied“It’s simpler than that – Rocket keeps upgrading ships.”
In a thread with the director, a Twitter user said that Disney must have been influenced Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The director once again clarified that studios only interfere if they don’t like a movie and confirmed that his works have never been interrupted, saying, “I have never been forced to change any of my movies, including Guardians movies.”
Gunn also denied a rumor that Warner Bros. Discovery will host an event on January 6 to make announcements about upcoming projects. When asked if it was true, he just answered“No.”
The next DCU release is Shazam! Wrath of the Godswhich will be released on March 17, 2023. It will be followed by The Flash, starring the troubled Ezra Miller, Blue beetleand Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
