Jeopardy Contestant Confuses Nickelback in Arcade Fire

At least he got the Canadian part right! Danger Contestant Kate Woomer-Deters quickly posed the question “Who is Arcade Fire? ” when given an indication requiring the answer “Who Nickelback? ” – thus confusing one of the 21st century’s most critically recognized bands with one of its most critical works.

The musical faux pas took place within the “Billboard Top 200 Albums in 2021” category on Monday night’s episode of the popular quiz show. Reigning champion Amy Schneider got the first four items right in the category before contestants were given a $ 1,000 clue, “‘ The Best Of ’this Canadian band,‘ Volume 1 ’includes‘ Rockstar, ’‘ How You Remind Me ‘& 17 other songs. ”

After Woomer-Dieters gave him “Who’s Arcade Fire?” response, contestant Harsh Daga rang in the final second and was rightly named Nickelback. Schneider, proving to be one of the most numerous champion of Danger history with 24 consecutive wins, seems bewildered by the sign.

Nickelback, of course, is one of the most successful rock bands in recent decades, and the songs named Clue are two of their biggest hits. With their great success came years of criticism from critics who rejected the band’s radio-friendly rock brand. As such, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, who previously referred to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger as “Captain Ego From Planet Douche,” announced a few years ago that Imagine Dragons has took the unofficial title of “Most Hated Band.”

Arcade Fire, on the other hand, was embraced by critics earlier, reaching universal praise for their 2010 opus The Suburbs, which picked up the 2011 Grammy for Album of the Year. However, their most recent full-length, 2017’s All Now, met with some critical backlash of its own.

So, now the question remains: Who felt worse? Nickelback, as unknown by a Danger contestant? Or Arcade Fire, because of the Nickelback confusion?

Or maybe it’s Machine Gun Kelly, who unknown to any of the three participants a few movies back, prompting host Ken Jennings to say, “Not Machine Gun Kelly fans, obviously.”

See how the Nickelback clue plays out at the end of the clip below.
