Jeremy Renner had a hilarious answer when asked about Clint Barton’s potential fight with Yelena Belova in Hawkeye. The resident marksman of the Avengers is back with his own Disney +series. And as part of his show’s story, Clint will continue to deal with his grief over the death of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) in Avengers: Last Game. However, that’s not the only way Natasha Romanoff’s death could be the cause Hawkeye, while Yelena chases Clint over her brother’s death.
Introduced by Cate Shortland’s Black Widow in the film, Yelena is set to take revenge for what happened to Nat, which led to her appearance Hawkeye. The post-credits scene of the film sees Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss) convincing Yelena that only Hawkeye is to blame for Black Widow’s death. But as fans know, that’s an over-simplification of what really happened in Vormir. In any case, Yelena will act with that idea Hawkeye caused Natasha’s death, effectively dealing with their conflict. With two stages of Hawkeye On the outside, there are no signs of Yelena so far, but it’s safe to think she’s hiding in the shadows, waiting for the right time to attack.
When asked about this particular element of the story of his show, Renner has a hilarious answer. The actor recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where host Jimmy Fallon simply mentions Yelena’s name. Renner, for his part, pretended to completely not know him. But, eventually, he recognized what had happened to Black Widow post-credits scene. However, he implies that he has done nothing wrong. See the full exchange below:
Interestingly, Renner’s initial response may reflect Clint’s response when he finally confronts Yelena at Hawkeye. It’s true that he and Nat are best friends, it’s unclear if he told her about the caring family he lives with in Ohio. By the time they meet, Nat is already trying to get out of the Black Widow program where Yelena is staying. There’s no indication so far that anyone at MCU knows the whole Black Widow story, perhaps, except. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who took him to SHIELD and made him an Avenger. But the possibility is that Clint doesn’t even know about Yelena’s secret hatred, which makes their inevitable interaction even more interesting.
Apparently there was a conflict between Clint and Yelena when they first met Hawkeye. And consider everything that happens on the show with the introduction of Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) and the Mafia Tracksuit problem, It’s amazing how Marvel Studios involved Yelena in the story. Finally, it will also be interesting to see if he and Clint “misunderstanding” will be resolved immediately on the show or if it stays in the MCU for a while.
