Jesse Eisenberg Discusses Possible DCEU Return


Jesse Eisenberg had the opportunity to briefly portray the iconic Superman villain Lex Luthor in 2016. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justiceand also in two iterations of Justice League film. However, Eisenberg never saw himself getting the chance to take on the role again.

Speaking during an appearance at the Sarajevo Film Festival to promote his directorial debut, When You Finish Saving the WorldEisenberg was asked about a potential return to the DC universe, to which Eisenberg said he would be “shocked” if he did another one.

“I’d be shocked if I played a DC movie, but it would be a pleasant shock,” Eisenberg said, before explaining that he’s not a huge comic book fan, to begin with. “Listen, I’m not a fan of comics. For me, this is not a role that I have envisioned since childhood. For me, it was an opportunity to play this wonderful character written by this great writer, and I loved doing that. So, playing it is a joy, and not playing it is not something I am ashamed to tell my children, because that is not an important genre in my life, although I love to do that movie. .”

Although he didn’t grow up a comic book fan, Eisenberg said he wouldn’t turn down a role in another comic book movie if it came his way. “Yes. Because as an actor, you do all kinds of different things, and sometimes great roles appear in really commercial things and sometimes terrible roles appear in independent films.
