The Joe Schmo Show reboot officially announced, with a new rendition of the iconic early 2000s television program returning to TBS.

When is The Joe Schmo Show Reboot coming out?

TBS announced Wednesday that it is bringing back the prank television series in a re-imagined format. The Joe Schmo Show reboot will air next year, and will be hosted by five-time Emmy Award nominee Cat Deeley.

Like its predecessor, The Joe Schmo Show once again takes a regular person and surrounds him with a group of actors, all of whom also pretend to be regular people in a game show trying to to win a prize.

“When The Joe Schmo Show launched 20 years ago, it was ahead of its time,” said Jason Sarlanis, President, Turner Networks, ID and HLN, linear & streaming. “In rebooting this classic for a modern, sophisticated audience, it gives us the opportunity to comment on the often absurd and hilarious tropes of reality television in ways our viewers will love.”

The original series premiered back in 2003 on the cable network Spike, and ran for three seasons. The first season of the show, however, became the most famous. Featuring a litany of actors who will become more famous – including Kristen WiigDavid Hornsby, Ralph Garman, and Lance Krall — the season ended with contestant David Gould winning $100,000.
