Josh Duhamel Leads Crime Dramedy Film

Distribution of Quiver released an official trailer for the Bandits, the upcoming crime drama based on the true story of The Flying Bandit, a criminal who managed to rob 59 banks without getting caught. The film is set to debut on September 23 in theaters and on VOD.

The video highlights the various bank heists that Josh Duhamel’s titular character is able to pull off while on the run from the authorities. It also challenges his partnership with Mel Gibson’s loan shark character and his relationship with a social worker.

“In 1985, Gilbert Galvan Jr, a brilliant career criminal, escaped from a US prison in Michigan and crossed the border into Canada where he assumed the identity of Robert Whiteman,” reads the synopsis. “After falling in love with Andrea, a caring social worker he can’t give up, he turns to robbing banks and discovers he’s very good at it. Under the guise of a security analyst, Robert begins flying around the country robbing several cities a day, eventually catching the attention of national news outlets who call him The Flying Bandit. Addicted to the rush and money that fueled his double life, Robert eventually turned to loanshark and notorious gangster Tommy Kay for greater opportunities. But because of Robert’s fame that grew in record time, he was placed in the direct sights of a ruthless detective who will stop at nothing to bring him down.

Bandits Directed by Allan Ungar from a screenplay written by Kraig Wenman. Along with Duhamel and Gibson are Elisha Cuthbert and Nestor Carbonell.
