From golden hour to blue suede shoes, Kacey Musgraves took his pop-country sound back in time and shared a cover of Elvis Presley“Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The song can be found on soundtrack by Baz Luhrmann Elvis.
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” first came out on Presley’s Blue Hawaii (1961), although its origins are much older, written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss from the themes of the 1784 French ballad, “Plaisir d’amour.” The Musgraves version is stripped back, without the original heartbeat percussion and swooning choir, it’s better to put all the emphasis on the sad keys.
There was a lot of reverb in his voice, which sounded as if he were alone singing in a large, empty house. His look at “Can’t Help Falling in Love” reads more like a sad breakup song rather than a musical version of first-kiss butterflies. Check it out below.
