After four rounds of nominations for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Kate Bush BECOMES brought to the hall as part of the class of 2023. Following the announcement this morning (May 3), Bush shared a statement about him website pondering the honor. “I have to admit that I was completely shocked by the news of being inducted into the Hall of Fame!” he wrote. “It’s something I never thought would happen.” Bush added: “Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me. It means you think a lot of me. It’s a great honor. Now as part of the initiation ceremony I learned about the secret handshake … there is one, no right?”
Bush joins Rage Against the Machine, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, Willie Nelson, and the Spinners in the Rock Hall’s class of 2023. The official induction ceremony will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Earlier today, Rage Against the Machine shared their own statement thanked the Rock Hall for the award. They also detailed the many political actions they’ve taken as a band over the past three decades, writing: “It’s been an amazing journey for us to be welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
