King Gizzard and Lizard Wizard have announced the New Butterfly 3000 Album

Most important psych-rockers King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard announced their latest album, Butterfly 3000. Marking the Aussie outfit’s full length 18th (!) Since 2012, the LP is almost on June 11th.

And that’s what everyone knows. King Gizzard announced the album via an Instagram post, revealing the effort to not be ahead of any advanced singles. They also define the sound of Butterfly 3000 as “melodic + psychedelic,” calling it a “cross-eyed autostereogram.” An autostereogram is a visual illusion (those 3D images you have to look at crosseyed to see) that’s a suitable physical analog for KGATLW sound as a whole, so it’s interesting that see how it plays to their latest high.

Butterfly 3000 following King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s LW from February. That record serves as something of a companion KG, which arrived just three months before November 2020.

In March this year, the band also released their Living in Melbourne ’21 hour and a half film in concert.
