Kings of Thrash (David Ellefson) Announces 2023 US Tour

Kings of Thrashwhich shows the former Megadeth bass player David Ellefsonhave announced an early 2023 US tour where they will perform both Megadeth albums in their entirety.

The tour saw the group play in the 1985’s Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good and 1988 So Far, So Good…So What in full. Dates begin February 16 in Joliet, Illinois, and run through March 15 in Atlanta. Hatriot will provide support.

You can get tickets through Ticketmaster.

Ellefson formed Kings of Thrash last year with guitarist Jeff Young, who played lead guitar in Megadeth in 1987 and 1988 during the So Far, So Good…So What era. Singer-guitarist Chaz Leon and drummer Fred Aching round out the Kings of Thrash lineup.

The band played its first shows in October and recorded a live album and concert video in the process. Best of the West…Live at the Whiskey A Go Go is set to be released as a CD/DVD package on March 24. The 17-song set was recorded and filmed at the iconic West Hollywood venue on October 15, 2022 and also features performances with former Megadeth drummer Chris Poland.

Kings of Thrash is one of the many projects Ellefson has worked on since its inception fired from Megadeth in May 2021 after “shameful” online sex with a young woman. He is a member of the supergroup The Lucid, with members of Fear Factory, Sponge, and Bang Tango. And he also opened an extreme-metal band Dieth in the summer of 2022.
