Now, Lana—who co-wrote the tune with Taylor and produced it Jack Antonoff—Finally sets the record straight as to why he is provided vocal support for Taylor instead of getting his own solo verse. As it turns out, the “Summertime Sadness” singer “had no idea I was the only one.”
“If I had known, I would have sung the whole second verse as he wanted,” he explained to a Billboard interview published February 24. “My job as a part of a big artist album is to make sure that I help to increase the production of the song, so I’m more focused on production.”
