The new track didn’t make the cut for ODESZA’s final album, but they “always felt like it was special.”
ODESSA features the surprise-release “Hopeful,” a standout track from the duo’s Foreign Family Collective published.
“Hope” is haunting and heavenly, reminiscent of the empyrean sound of ODESZA’s earlier work. They explored a new direction on their last album, The Last Farewellmostly departing from their signature sound to embrace house music with darker sensibilities.
“Hopeful” is the first new song from ODESZA since the release of The Last Farewellthat gathered a nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 65th Grammy Awards. Despite its absence from the project, the cinematic track appeared in the duo’s subsequent live shows and became a fan favorite.
“This one never made the album but we always felt it was special and somehow included our time away from the world while writing the record,” ODESZA said in a statement.
