Love God and Your neighbor

When you’re stuck in the wilderness and everything around you is full of trees, true north is what gets you out. When you are navigating the confusion of society, your spiritual and relational true north will guide you.

Jesus gave us His true north when he said that the two greatest things we can do are to love God and to love our neighbor (Matt. 22:37-40). He equates the two. Which means that when the world gets out of control, the way is to hold on to objective values that don’t change – like truth, love, and humble sacrifice. Then find what is best for the people around you.

That’s a good way of life all the time, but it’s especially useful when the path ahead is unclear. Loving your neighbor means using your strength to protect the weak, and your time, talent, and resources in a way that fills society with opportunity, value, and purpose.

and WHO your neighbor? Jesus was asked that too. He says they are all around you. Your co-workers, your family, your friends. Even your enemies. Everyone struggles with something. And you can help. No matter how much or how little you have, you have something good to offer your family, your friends, and your community.

When life feels chaotic and unpredictable, you can find peace in unchanging goals. Connect deeply with your faith and give deeply of yourself. Love God and love your neighbor.

that’s it true north.
